Most people on JoDate are here for genuine love and friendship. But scammers exist on every dating platform, and they all use similar tricks. Knowing them is the best protection.

The warning signs
- Love too fast. Big declarations within days — "you are my destiny" — before you've even met.
- They can never meet or video call. Always travelling, working on an oil rig, deployed abroad, or with a "broken" camera.
- A sudden problem that needs money. A hospital bill, customs fees, a stuck inheritance, a plane ticket to come and see you.
- They want to leave the app quickly for WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Their story doesn't add up — details change, photos look like a model's.
How to protect yourself
- Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you haven't met in person. No exceptions.
- Video call early. A real person will happily show their face.
- Look for the verified badge — and choose to be contacted only by verified members in your privacy settings.
- Keep chatting on JoDate until you trust them.
- Protect your account with the login code in Security.
If you're worried
Stop replying, don't send anything and tap Report on their profile. Our team reads every report. If you've already lost money, contact your bank and the police in your country straight away.
Real love is patient. Anyone who asks you for money before you've met is not looking for love.
